Cross-cultural work that fosters story:

Angeles Arrien is a cultural anthropologist, award-winning author, educator, and consultant to many organizations and businesses. She lectures and conducts workshops worldwide, bridging cultural anthropology, psychology, and comparative religions. See www.angelesarrien.com

Kufunda Village is the learning community founded by Marianne Knuth, featured in Chapter 6 of Storycatcher. Visit www.kufunda.org for a sense of the scope of this work, the ongoing community, and how to participate as an outer rim of storycatchers and supporters.

Echoes of the Ancestors, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization created by Malidoma Somé dedicated to the preservation of the Wisdom of the Dagara. Its activities include the dissemination of information about these cultures, donations of clothing to Dagara children, and the construction of water wells, and water reservoirs to help fight the drought, sickness and extreme poverty in Africa. The web site explains the purposes of the foundation and provides information about the wisdom of the Dagara, and their chief spokes-person for the West, Malidoma Somé. See www.malidoma.org

Story-based conversational models:

The Art of Hosting is a seminar organized and offered by a team of hosts trained in conversational arts, especially PeerSpirit Circle, Open Space and World Cafe. The Art of Hosting and Convening Meaningful Conversations explores hosting as a leadership practice. Hosting is convening the conversations most important to our communities, families and organizations. These workshops offer a variety of methods and practices for engaging large and small groups. World Café, founded by Juanita Brown and David Isaacs is a creative process for leading collaborative dialogue, sharing knowledge and creating possibilities for action in groups of all sizes. World Café Conversations are an intentional way to create a living network of conversation around questions that matter. See www.theworldcafe.com

www.storynet.org is a gateway into the National Storytellers Association, including listings of regional groups, ethnic focused groups, and groups organized around themes.

Turtle Island Storytellers Network is the American Indian speaker’s bureau. It is being developed to promote talented American Indian storytellers, tribal historians, and song carriers from the Pacific Northwest and Northern Plains. See www.turtleislandstorytellers.net
